  • Greenhouse Gas Emissions: 43.1 million metric tons gross emissions in 2012 (35.0 million metric tons net, accounting for LUCF), on a carbon-dioxide equivalent basis. The Slovak Ministry of Environment’s National Inventory Report of 2016 estimated 2014 emissions to be 42.9 million metric tons gross emissions (34.8 net, accounting for carbon sinks).

Important Initiatives related to Climate Change:

INDC: As an EU member nation, Slovakia’s commitment is contained within the larger European Union INDC, which commits its 28 members to a combined reduction of 40% below 1990 levels by 2030. The text of the European Union INDC can be viewed here.
