  • Greenhouse Gas Emissions: 439.9 million metric tons gross emissions in 2012 (380.1 million metric tons net, accounting for LUCF), on a carbon-dioxide equivalent basis. Turkey’s 2016 National Inventory Report to the UNFCCC estimated 2014 emissions to be 21.1 million metric tons gross emissions.
  • Energy use per capita: 4,600 kg of oil equivalent, 2013

Important Initiatives related to Climate Change:

INDC: In its Intended Nationally Determined Contribution (INDC), submitted to the UNFCCC in 2015, Turkey set a target of reducing emissions by 2030 by 21% below business-as-usual levels. The text of Turkey’s INDC can be viewed here.
