2017-10-17 2017-10-18 Europe/Budapest Data collection methods of cities’ energy systems and networks – insights from the InSmart Project Availability of good quality data is fundamental for obtaining robust modelling results and developing realistic and implementable energy plans. Luis will present methods and tools for data-driven integrated energy planning. The InSmart project used several methods and tools for collecting data on buildings, transport sector, development of urban spaces, water and sewage system, municipal solid waste management and other sectors. The project implementers performed a thorough analysis of renewable energy potentials in the target cities using the GIS tools. Luís Dias will discuss key data sources for municipal energy planning, data collection methods and challenges, data quality issues, and will share main lessons of the InSmart project. To join, please click HERE.   About the presenter: Luís Pereira Dias Researcher at the Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research, NOVA University of Lisbon, Portugal Luís is a PhD Student in the PhD Program on Global Studies: a joint program between the Faculty of Sciences and Technology and the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, both from Unversidade NOVA de Lisboa. Throughout his researcher career, at the CENSE Climate Change and Sustainable Energy group, he has developed extensive experience in the analysis of impacts on the national energy system of new energy technologies in different climate change mitigation policy scenarios (e.g. Low Carbon Road Map Portugal 2050 project). He has robust knowledge in energy-environment-economy modelling, and has worked on studies and technical support policy decision on atmospheric pollutant emission targets and integrated analysis of climate and air quality policies Webinar tmorante@rec.org
