New LEDS Platform Kicks off

The LEDS Europe and Eurasia Platform (LEDS EEP) will hold its inaugural Steering Committee meeting and Annual Forum over two days in the first week of December 2016. The two sessions will mark the official launch of the platform and initiate its important work to facilitate peer learning, information sharing, and the advancement of low-emission development strategies (LEDS) throughout the region.

The LEDS EEP mission is to create and support a community of practitioners that will promote and implement LEDS across the Europe and Eurasia (E&E) region, which comprises Europe and the countries of the Black Sea region. The platform will support peer-to-peer learning and knowledge sharing, offer advisory support, and contribute to improved regional coordination and cooperation among governmental and non-governmental partners, including academia, businesses, associations, NGOs and individuals, in order to help countries in the E&E region to achieve transformative, climate-smart, sustainable economic growth.

Interested individuals, organisations and government ministries are invited to join the platform, take part in its activities, and support the platform’s efforts. Membership is open to all individuals and institutions working to advance LEDS in the E&E region, with the goal of balanced representation from the policy, practice and research communities. Membership is also open to all organisations with an interest in further climate change mitigation and/or adaptation in the E&E region. Registration is available here. Members will have full access to the online knowledge management and communications portal.
